ERSG USA are currently recruiting Senior Engineer – Substation (Electrical) for a major US Offshore Wind developer on the East Coast with the office located in the center of Boston, MA or Bridgeport, CT.The role of the offshore substation Electrical Senior Engineer is a key coordination role for the offshore business, it ensures the electrical designs and contract technical requirements meet business procedures and industry best practice. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic candidate to join a world leading renewable energy developer with multiple avenues and opportunities for growth.Please Note:This is initially a contract positions (expected 1-2 years) with potential for a transition into a permanent position and/or contract extension(s).We are looking for individuals commutable or open to relocating to the Boston or Bridgeport area (unfortunately no relocation is provided).This position is open to individuals who have the right to work in the United States without sponsorship.No salary range is currently available due to our usual process of “quoting per applicant” to ensure fairness across the board.Candidates with experience in renewable energy, oil & gas, utility or T&D areas will be at a distinct advantage.Job DutiesThe Offshore Substation Electrical Senior Engineer will be integrated within the Offshore Platform Team being responsible for:Definition of main design criteria and functional requirements regarding Offshore Platform (OP) electrical design including main electrical equipment, low voltage system, control, protection, metering, SCADA and telecommunications, managing the work of a team of specialists in the aforementioned areas.Being aware of electrical area interfaces with other areas, managing them as well as the associated inputs and outputs required for project progress.Assuring the internal coordination of the Electrical Team working for the OP project in order that the design deliverables produced by subcontractors are received, reviewed, commented, accepted, or rejected by the right person in due time.Collecting and making available for the OP design the relevant information from other electrical areas of the project out of the OP Design Team (i.e. TSO, electrical system studies, WTGs, or export cables).Being the focal point for reporting the OP engineering coordinator about the electrical area and providing technical support to any other area regarding OP electrical design until the OP is transferred to O&M.Working with the Onshore Electrical Equipment Manager for the complete integration of the two systems.Skills, Knowledge & ExperienceKnowledge and experience of EHV/HV electrical equipmentExperience of engineering design and delivery.Understanding of electromechanical drawings and documents.Analytical, with an eye for detailProject, contract and time management, with ability to complete projects and keep to deadlinesNumerical skills and ability to quantify the costs of potential incidentsStrong leadership, teamwork and customer service ethicAdaptable and good at problem solvingEnthusiastic and flexible approach to workResults orientatedGood communication skills at various levelsFlexibility to travel between the company's offices, contractor facilities and the project.Internal and External RelationshipsInternal:Colleagues within the project, specifically the Electrical Design Manager, ONS Engineering team, OSS Engineering Manager, Main Equipment Project ManagerOffshore business functional managerExternal:Appointed consultants and contractorsMinimum CriteriaExcellent communication and inter-personal skillsThe ability to understand complex engineering and construction information, which may be unfamiliar at first.Proven ability to work in a team environment and also independently.Experience of working in and managing highly skilled teamsSolid grasp of engineering and work control of large-scale project deliveryIT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and learn how to use new IT applications.Educated to degree level in relevant engineering discipline or a related subject.Self-motivated, with personal organization and planning skillsFluent in English, written and spoken.Flexible to travel around the US and overseas.Comprehensive knowledge of engineering procedures, standards and guidance.Knowledge and experience of offshore/marine sector
