The candidate will be reporting to the Payroll Manager and will be a key member of the payroll team responsible for processing the biweekly hourly non-exempt, driver and semi-monthly exempt payrolls for approximately 3000 employees. This position is eligible to participate in our hybrid work schedule.RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible end-to-end payroll runs including both on and off cycle payments as well as special pay runs using Workday Stays informed of developments in the payroll field and changing governmental and legal requirements to ensure compliance with internal payroll processes, and company policies for all jurisdictions Ensures compliance with federal, state and local employment related to tax requirements Daily auditing of all payroll transactions for new hires, terminations, transfers, time and attendance and maintain labor allocations Contribute to the accuracy and integrity of the payroll function within the company Administer the pay portion of all employee leaves to ensure all calculations for worker's compensation/state disability pay offset, retro pay, etc. are accurate and correct Wage Verification Requests (Worker's compensation claims, financial inquiries, etc.) Auditing system to ensure accurate payment of employees (e.g. retroactive pay calculations, earnings & deductions, driver advances, relocation reimbursements, tax adjustments, severance pay, etc.) Responds to payroll inquiries from employees, leaders, functionality related departments, internal and external audit Diagnose and helps correct system issues quickly and accurately in conjunction with support teams Completes special projects or other duties as assigned by Payroll Manager Proactively identify process improvement and create updated process documentation Participates in user-acceptance testing for system enhancements Stays informed of developments in the payroll field and the changing governmental and legal requirements Committed to work within a team environment to accomplish department goals Familiar with commission driver payroll would be considered an asset Familiar with processing procedures for 401K would be considered an asset Familiar with completion and settlement process would be considered an asset Familiar with year-end activities including generation and distribution of W-2's, accurate reconciliations and validations for year-end reportingQUALIFICATIONS: CPP Certification required, or equivalent degree 5+ years - progressive experience as a payroll professional, preferably in the Oil and Gas Industry Experience in Workday Payroll, time tracking and absence preferred Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Excel Good problem solving and analytical skills Strong attention to detail with an internal drive for accuracy Demonstrated excellent in written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service excellence Ability to exercise discretion relating to confidential/sensitive information Ability to work collaboratively with other HR team members and employees in other departments Capable of prioritizing multiple requests to ensure timely and accuracy in completion of required tasks Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment with proven flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing business conditions* Self-motivated with strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and collaborativelyAt Plains, our employees are our most valuable asset.
