Scott Rotary Seals (SRS) of Olean, NY is looking to hire a Production Manager.SRS is a highly technical, custom manufacturer of rotary unions, timing valves, and Babbitt bearings. We are experiencing record year over year growth and we're looking for a Production Manager to join our leadership team. Initially, you would manage a team of approximately 10-12 people in CNC Machining, Assembly/Test and Shipping & Receiving roles.Key Responsibilities of a Production Manager at SRS Develop and manage methods for improving safety, quality, productivity, delivery and cost for SRS Operations. Monitor load versus capacity by various work centers and develop short and long terms plans to efficiently meet demand. Analyze the capacity of work centers to plan for over capacity situations and support subcontract activity planning. Lead root cause investigations for non-conformance issues. Use the Corrective Action process to create sustainable corrective actions and prevent reoccurrences. Support and advance our culture of continuous improvement and help move suggestions from ideas to implementation Effectively use technology tools to measure results of these actions and make adjustments based on data. Align improvements with a documented process and drive standardization of best practices. Engage employees on a daily basis to gather more information and take necessary actions to share information, address inefficiencies and clear barriers for your team. Manage the performance of the Operations team by performing shop huddles twice weekly, holding monthly 1-on-1's with each employee, individual performance evaluations, and coaching employees through improvement in a positive manner. Collaborate with the General Manager and other staff to identify meaningful Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and promote understanding within your team. It is critical to ensure transparency in expectations and that the team is driving toward continuous improvement. Upkeep safety incident tracking and proactively communicate near misses to promote the preventable 'injury free' work culture at SRS. Align shop activities with standard work, and ensure processes supporting each production activity are documented. Work with the General Manager to create staffing strategies for the operations team. All headcount additions must align with the business strategy and SRS budget. Ensure all daily/weekly/monthly preventive maintenance activities are being performed on production equipment. The Production Manager co-owns the preventive maintenance tool and program with the General Manager. Champion data driven decisions. Use data driven tools to create spending justifications that ensure a proper ROI for all expenses. Establish and continually improve training plans for new and existing staff. Use lean tools to improve product flow and eliminate bottlenecks in all manufacturing areas.Qualifications for a Production Manager 5-7+ years of management or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is required. Bachelor degree in an Engineering or Business Management discipline is strongly preferred. Extensive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment may be substituted for the degree requirement. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and prints Strong communication skills including the ability to write technical work instructions and professionally worded performance evaluations Highly proficient in the use of technology tools. A high degree of mechanical aptitude.A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management or a related field is preferred, but multiple factors will be taken into consideration.
