About us Avencia Consulting are working on behalf of a market leading specialty insurer, currently seeking a Governance&Oversight Officer (Conduct risk professional) to join the organisation at a time of growth. The role The primary function of this position is to support the Governance and Oversight Lead in implementing and embedding the new Product Governance Framework. Additional responsibilities include working with the Governance and Oversight Lead, underwriting personnel and business partners to ensure adherence to Lloyd's Minimum Standards for the Customer (MS9), Governance (MS4), Regulatory (MS10), and Underwriting and Controls (MS2). There is also the need to collate conduct risk management information (MI), and assist with the regulatory reporting requests. This role will help to build on the good practice being developed for mainly underwriting yet also claims oversight activity (including that of delegated authority business). It will involve working and interaction with a variety of different business partners and stakeholders. Department overview The Portfolio Development&Support (PDS) team is a recently created function that sits across all Divisions within Wholesale business which operates across London and Asian platforms. Its focus is on the areas that are critical to achieve profitability and performance targets for a specialty lines insurer: Governance&Oversight, Data and Insights, Portfolio Management, and Pricing Model development. The PDS team provides support to the following Divisions within Wholesale: Cyber writes many differing types of business and industry areas for cyber coverage.Energy provides coverage on a worldwide basis for all aspects of upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas activities as well as renewable energy.Equine&Livestock provides coverage for Bloodstock and Livestock risks worldwide.Marine provides coverage for liability, hull, war, terrorism, specie and cargo risks worldwide.Professional and Financial Risks (PFR) underwrites business worldwide and covers traditional and emerging professional indemnity, management liability, financial institutions as well as specialist risk areas such as patents and libel & slander.Trade Credit, Political Risk and Surety (TCPRS) underwrites a variety of trade and investment-related risks using expert knowledge of commercial counterparty and country risks across a wide variety of trade sectors and geographies. Key accountabilities Embedding of the Product Governance Framework to ensure that its objectives and that of the Product Governance Policy are achieved including working with the business on product governance questionnaires, product testing, product reviews, etc. Supporting the Governance and Oversight Lead with governance and oversight reporting requests, good practice data handling, conduct risk oversight, and associated MI, including analysing the MI to identify gaps in conduct, governance or oversight issues and undertake root cause analysis where appropriate to highlight underlying trends and identify and track actions as appropriate. To provide effective and efficient governance and oversight support across the Wholesale business to ensure that all regulatory, operational and conduct risk matters that have an impact are identified, assessed and have appropriate controls that are appropriately monitored. Develop and maintain good working relationships with the business and promote a strong and positive governance and oversight culture. Including work with other functional areas to include but not limited to: finance, actuarial, UW Ops, legal and regulatory, compliance, credit control, reinsurance, delegated and underwriting support services to resolve issues and support the achievement of PDS and Wholesale business priorities. Assist with communicating relevant regulatory information to business areas in a clear and concise manner and provide some guidance on any resulting actions. Also ensuring that there is suitable escalation of all issues as issues as appropriate - in particular regulatory risks that are out of appetite. Working with the Governance and Oversight Lead to facilitate committee meetings and other oversight forums. Including support with the production of presentations and papers by gathering the necessary MI, data and associated content, including formatting using Word, Excel, PowerPoint as required. Contribute to internal and external reporting, when requested, before the required deadlines. Skills&experience Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of insurance regulations and frameworks associated with a (re)insurance company. Lloyd's of London experience desirable but not essential. Have experience of being part of a technical underwriting team or working within an underwriting division. Have demonstrable experience in influencing and engaging with stakeholders using effective communication and ensuring buy-in. Be able to clearly articulate complex strategies, techniques and ideas to management and underwriters across multiple product lines. Have a proven ability to successfully manage and deliver to agreed timelines projects and initiatives that require involvement from business partners across the company. Possess both strong analytical depth and the ability to independently problem solve and then put forward recommendations. Possess a thorough working knowledge of the Microsoft office suite, with a focus on Excel and be comfortable with manipulating and analysing data.
